An Ed. Messter of Berlin lacquered brass compound microscope, rectangular horseshoe base, slotted pillar, tubular limb with triangular rod, topped by fine adjuster. Substage lens, iris diaphragm and double mirror. Body tube with double milled head pinion, triple objective lens swivel cluster. Signed and dated 1894 under the base. Provenance: ex The Jack Thornton estate collection.
