incised and coloured wood panel, signed with incised cipher lower right. Labelled and entitled verso 'Design for pataka maihi. The pakake motif said to represent the hauling in of a whale (or some marine monster) up to the figure at the apex of the gable. The manaia figures are pulling in the monster'. Another label detailed 'Designed and Executed by Pauline and James Yearbury, Colonial Gallery, Russell, Bay of Islands, N.Z'. 230 x 600mm.
